Hammering Away

Slay away
and cut with swaths
so great
don’t wait
swing the scythe
pay the tithe
diatribe
kill your tribe
swing your scythe
with no rythym or ryhme

Feel the burning
feed the yearning
try try try
to speed up the turning
it’s all about you
and the way you feel
and your own helplessness
in the way you deal
your lack of capability
your own vulnerability
that you do refuse to see
in favor of hatred
and enmity

Great swaths of thought
like giant rocks
no distinction
no end
no diversity
no bend
just flat and endless
and all the same
and here you are
and you stake your claim
and there’s nothing new
and there’s nothing novel
except the virus
but you won’t grovel
you won’t beg
you won’t wonder
you won’t explore
you won’t surrender

And I understand
I really do
I’ve been there
locked and loaded too
and firing at everything
that’s in my way
and forgetting my life
and my love of play
and forgetting my love
my love for the day
and instead hammering
hammering away.
