Nerve

I awoke today with different eyes

And before I returned to where I sat

I flew

and saw the world and saw myself

and saw children playing and laughing

but that was not the thing

that was not the thing

the laughter, I know now, is just a distraction

all that we think

all that we think we are

all that we think we are

is just a distraction

I awoke from my flight and could no longer see

I returned into my body and felt the confines

and the comfort

and the loss of expanse

but it wasn’t a sad loss

nothing was sad

there is no sadness

even when I choose it

I touched god

and I want to go back

How can there be 46 miles of nerves in the human body

how can it fit

I am a nerve

of billions

and I am aware.
