The Gift That I Am

I am resting.

It’s been a long time coming

And I cherish it, nourishing

My emotions are rounded like waves on a peaceful sea

My thoughts are relaxed like an unstretched rubber band

My body is off duty and acting like it

In this state I can feel the music and the love between a father and son and cat

Everything is a wonder with me and I with everything

The wind that smells like grass and forest dances the leaves, sways the trees

And touches me like the gift I am.

People all around the world, for all time, celebrate the gift they are.

I think they don’t know this

But that is ok, I am grateful for their expression of the gift that they are

Because know it or not, when I allow for it,

The gift that they are touches the gift that I am.

And I think that is the essence of life.
