A Cold Night

Some days there’s no hope
and so if hope is all you’ve
based your life on
these
will be rough days.

Personally I like to give up
and have a pizza
and go to a movie
as if I need to give up
to do that

My notions go un questioned
and like bridges
connect me to the swamp
of my history
where, for some reason,
I like to go

So much so
I’ve built a house
it’s grand esteem
inside and out
built on rot
and overflowing lies
I don’t care
neither the flies

Feeling sorry for myself
Is like a warm blanket
And sometimes
When it’s cold
A warm blanket
is
a warm blanket
in a cold night.
